Microsoft launches Indexer Diagnostics tool to identify problems and issues with the Windows Search Indexer
Microsoft has improved and optimized the file search function of Windows 10 Explorer in several recent official releases, but instead has caused users to encounter more problems.
For example, the content freezes when entering content in the search box or the entire explorer freezes, and the search is too slow to find the files the user needs.
But file search is a feature that many users rely on very much. These problems will obviously cause users troubles, and some users will start using third-party software.
At present, Microsoft has launched a diagnostic tool called Indexer Diagnostics for the search function, which can be used to analyze many problems caused by file indexing.
Since the diagnostic tool naturally also provides users with potential solutions, Microsoft has built a variety of different search solutions into the diagnostic tool.
For example, you can check the status of the index, solve the abnormal search function, whether the file is indexed, what is being indexed, performance, and global search function.
When the user clicks the search function abnormally, they can see that the diagnostic tool will provide the option to restart and reset the search service, and then rebuild the index to resume the search and so on.
If the above steps still do not work, the diagnostic tool will automatically report the problem to Microsoft, and Microsoft engineers analyze the log to detect potential problems.
We know that if there are a large number of files and folders, the indexer will take longer to work, and the actual processor and memory resources will also increase.
Microsoft has provided basic search and enhanced search in Windows 10 Version 2004. The above functions can be used to limit resource usage.
However, in the current official version, users still cannot enjoy the improvements brought by the new search algorithm but can use the index diagnostic tool to monitor the performance changes of the indexer.
