Microsoft recommend 400 million Windows 7 users to buy a new PC to run Windows 10

Microsoft will officially end extended support for Windows 7 tomorrow, which means that the Windows 7 version will officially enter the stage of history starting tomorrow.

This version was released on July 22, 2009, and it has been more than 10 years. In these 10 years, personal computer technology has continued to maintain ultra-high-speed development.

Ten years have made the performance of previously released personal computers far worse than it is now, so Microsoft also believes that users should give up computers that they bought many years ago.

Microsoft said in its latest blog that it is not recommended for Windows 7 users to upgrade Windows 10 directly. Although this is possible, it may cause compatibility problems.

The reason is that many hardware manufacturers have long stopped supporting previously released hardware, which has resulted in no longer performing drivers for this discontinued hardware.

Although Windows 10 is very good in terms of compatibility, it can’t solve the driver problem, because the driver is released by the hardware manufacturer and not Microsoft.

Microsoft can continue to provide working drivers to older computers but not provide the best performance, which will result in reduced user experience.

At the same time, old computers also have no proprietary features because they were released too long, such as fingerprint readers or iris and facial recognition authentication to unlock and so on.

Of course, the more important thing is that the hardware that comes with older computers such as processors and memory. Low performance may also cause Windows 10 to freeze.

Microsoft claims that the price of personal computers is not higher than 10 years ago, and the rapid development of technology has made computers with the same price stronger.

Users’ personal computers should be retired after 10 years of service, and users can repurchase new computers to get the best experience from Microsoft.

Of course, Microsoft also advertises here to recommend users to buy Microsoft Surface series devices, at least relatively good in terms of performance.

Moreover, the overall pricing of Microsoft Surface devices is higher, and other manufacturers’ hardware equipment performance may be better at the same price.

After the end of support, Microsoft will no longer provide security updates for Windows 7 users, which means that even if there are installation vulnerabilities, they cannot be fixed through patches.

Therefore, it is a dangerous practice for users to continue to use Windows 7 system, which may cause various security issues such as being hacked and so on.

Of course, Microsoft also emphasizes that users can continue to use Windows 7 even after the company stops supporting it, even if users do not upgrade.

However, the security problems caused by the inability to continue to update Windows 7 are very large, so Microsoft still recommends that you upgrade to Windows 10 as soon as possible.
