Microsoft is developing Windows 11 SE version to compete with Chromebooks
Yes, that’s right, Microsoft has to develop a streamlined SE system again! It’s just based on Windows 11 development instead of continuing to use Windows 10 S mode.
Theverge released news that Microsoft is developing Windows 11 SE version and low-cost device Microsoft Surface Laptop SE mainly for the education market.
At present, the education market in the United States and other places is mainly controlled by Apple and Google. Apple has firmly occupied the education market through the iPad and Google through the Chromebook.
Microsoft has tried to launch Windows 10 S version to seize the Google market before. Many of these system functions have been cut off and students are restricted from installing desktop applications.
Windows 11 SE will not be the second version of Windows 11. The SE version is more like Windows 10 S Mode. According to the method of Windows 10, this version should cut off most of the functions, retaining basic functions such as web browsing and installing approved applications from the Microsoft Store.
The advantage of this is that it can prevent students from installing desktop software and thus infecting viruses. After reviewing the Microsoft Store application, the software security is relatively higher.
However, Microsoft hasn’t made many eye-catching moves in the education market. The Windows 10 S model that was launched before has a good reputation, but the device shipments are low.
But in the education market, Microsoft is definitely not willing to let Google make a fortune, so Microsoft is also preparing to launch a cheaper Surface Laptop to attract students.
