Microsoft confirms that Security Essentials will continue to get signature updates after January 14
Microsoft will end the life cycle of Windows 7 system next month and no longer provide security support, so users need to upgrade to a new supported version as soon as possible.
Someone in the Microsoft community asked Microsoft employees when they asked if Security Essentials, an antivirus software included with Windows 7, could get updates. The Microsoft employee said that Security Essentials software will also end support after Windows 7 end support, no longer provide program version updates.
However, Microsoft will continue to provide regular signature updates to Security Essentials software. The so-called signature updates are database updates of malware identified by Microsoft. With this type of signature update, Security Essentials software can continue to identify and block the latest viruses.
