MGS4 & MGS5 Teased in Master Collection Files?

The ‘Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1’ has been released recently, encompassing ‘Metal Gear,’ ‘Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake,’ and ‘Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater,’ along with two original titles from the MSX platform. However, it’s evident that the ‘Metal Gear’ series boasts more games than those in this collection, and the ‘Vol.1’ in the title hints at the probable existence of a ‘Vol.2.’ Citing VGC reports, some Reddit users have unearthed, through data extraction, indications of more games within the collection yet to be released.

Reddit user Timo653 revealed that the game’s launcher was developed using Unity, facilitating straightforward unpacking. Delving into certain files, he discerned a sequence of strings, inclusive of ‘Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker’ and ‘Metal Gear Solid 4’, and even a mention of ‘Metal Gear Solid 5’.

‘Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker,’ released in 2010, initially debuted as a PSP exclusive before its HD remaster found its way to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Conversely, the 2008 release, ‘Metal Gear Solid 4,’ has remained an absolute PS3 exclusive, with players to this day limited to experiencing it solely on the PS3 platform. A prevailing sentiment among players has been that ‘Metal Gear Solid 4’ couldn’t be ported to other platforms due to its extensive utilization of PS3’s unique features. However, the unpacking results might suggest this impediment has been overcome.

Currently, the ‘Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1’ is available on various platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PS5/PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam.
