Intel released Core 14th generation desktop processors: up to 6 GHz of frequency right out of the box
Intel has announced the official release of its 14th-generation Core desktop processors, namely the Raptor Lake Refresh. Intel asserts the pivotal role these processors play in gaming and content creation, attributing their excellence to an advanced high-performance hybrid architecture. This ensures that enthusiasts receive the computational performance they crave, delivering an unparalleled desktop experience without disrupting user workflows.
“Since the introduction of our performance hybrid architecture, Intel has consistently raised the bar for desktop performance. With our Intel Core 14th Generation processors, we’re showing once again why enthusiasts turn to Intel for the best desktop experience available on the market today,” Roger Chandler, Intel vice president and general manager, Enthusiast PC and Workstation, Client Computing Group said.
The initial lineup includes six K/KF suffixed products, compatible with the existing 600/700 series motherboards: the Core i9-14900K/KF with 24 cores and 32 threads, peaking at 6 GHz; the Core i7-14700K/KF, which sees the most significant change from its predecessor with 20 cores and 28 threads, and an increase in L3 cache from 30MB to 33MB; and the Core i5-14600K/KF, which maintains the same core and thread count as its predecessor but with a slightly higher frequency.
The new generation processors offer integrated support for Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 5.3, with standalone support for the upcoming Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 technologies. Moreover, the 14th generation Core desktop processors not only support Thunderbolt 4 but also the imminent Thunderbolt 5, offering a maximum bidirectional bandwidth of up to 80 Gbps.
Features designed specifically for gaming, such as the Intel Application Optimization (APO), work in tandem with Intel’s existing hardware thread scheduler to ensure superior thread management for applications. Additionally, the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility now incorporates an AI Assist feature, providing AI-guided one-click overclocking for specific unlocked desktop processors.
Commencing October 17, 2023, the 14th generation Core desktop processors will be available for purchase from retailers and featured in systems from OEM partners. The official suggested retail prices (MSRP) are in line with previously leaked information: $589/$564 for the Core i9-14900K/KF, $409/$384 for the Core i7-14700K/KF, and $319/$294 for the Core i5-14600K/KF.
