Intel Processor Identification Utility Supports Raptor Lake Refresh
Recently, Intel released an announcement stating that the Core brand would undergo a significant upgrade, and products based on the new Meteor Lake architecture would be named Core Ultra. However, it is worth noting that Meteor Lake will not cover the entire next-generation market. The desktop platform and certain mobile platforms will still rely on Raptor Lake Refresh for support.
Twitter user @momonmo_us discovered the appearance of the term “Raptor Lake Refresh” on Intel’s official website. This was actually captured by Google’s search crawler and refers to the download page for Intel Processor Identification Utility, a tool used to identify and confirm Intel CPU specifications. It can display graphic information, chipset details, and supported technologies of the processor. However, the specific references to Raptor Lake Refresh have since been removed.
Regarding the naming of Raptor Lake Refresh products, the desktop variant, Raptor Lake-S Refresh, and the high-end mobile processor, Raptor Lake-HX Refresh, will continue to follow the existing naming system. They will be referred to as the 14th generation Intel Core processors, maintaining the i3, i5, i7, and i9 grading system, as well as the existing product branding.
However, the low-power mobile version, Raptor Lake-U Refresh, will adopt a new naming approach as the 1st generation Intel Core processor. This name may cause some confusion, as the processor grading will be simplified to 3, 5, and 7, and the product model numbers will be reduced from 5-digit to 4-digit numbers.
Although the naming has changed, Raptor Lake Refresh will not differ significantly from the existing Raptor Lake. It will primarily offer higher frequencies and support for faster memory.
