Intel LGA 18XX socket appeared, Will this be used by Meteor Lake?

In recent months, whether it is Intel or AMD, the new sockets used by the next-generation platforms have been exposed. Intel 12th-generation Core series desktop processors will use the new LGA 1700 socket, and Alder Lake’s successor product, Raptor Lake, will also use the same socket. AMD Zen 4 architecture Ryzen processor code-named Raphael will also be replaced with a new LGA 1718 (AM5) socket.

Recently, Twitter user @momomo_us shared a picture of the socket cover, listing the words compatible with LGA-18XX. In the heat sink installation requirements of the LGA 1700 socket previously exposed by Igor’s Lab, there is a socket named LGA 1800. The related processor heat sink installation mechanism shows that the LGA 1700 socket and LGZ1800 socket have a certain degree of compatibility. This also shows that the LGA 1800 is a socket belonging to the Intel platform, not the AMD platform.

It is not yet clear which Intel product will be used. It is reported that the LGA 18XX socket is used to replace the LGA 1700 socket. The first processor to use the new socket is Meteor Lake, which is also Intel’s first processor manufactured with a 7nm process. There is also news that LGA 18XX sockets may be used in different series of products, such as workstations with Xeon processors. There have been rumors that Intel hopes that the LGA 1700 socket can continue to use at least three generations of products, including Meteor Lake. Intel will not confirm this statement at this stage, and there is no other way to prove it.
