Intel Arc A380 can mine Ethereum, but the performance is not very good

The developer of the Nanominer mining software recently added support for Intel Arc GPU. Recently, the Arc A380 has been tested for Ethereum mining, but the performance is not very good.

After the miner’s test, it is confirmed that the new version of Nanominer can support Intel Arc A380. Without any optimization, the performance is about 10.2 MH/s, and the real-time power consumption is 75W, which is worse than the GTX 1660 series. The A380’s performance per watt is 0.136 MH/s, which is much lower than the average 0.38 MH/s of most graphics cards used for mining on the market.

Intel Arc A380 has 8 Xe cores and uses 96bit GDDR6 6GB, although the memory capacity is 6GB, the actual available VRAM is 4832MB, which is lower than the minimum DAG threshold of 5127MB for mining ETH, so it can only be used for mining Ethereum Classic (ETC).

Another point worth noting is that ETH will switch to the Proof of Stake mode between September 10 and September 20, which means that after this time point, it is impossible to use graphics cards to mine ETH, but miners should switch to other cryptocurrencies, such as ETC.
