GeckoLinux 220115.999 released, Linux distribution based on openSUSE

GeckoLinux derives from the openSUSE distribution, which is characterized by elegance and out-of-the-box accessibility for the desktop. The release features a number of desktop styles that can be installed from a self-starting CD. OpenSUSE default installation, there is some open-source software due to obstruction in the absence of patents, but they are included in the GeckoLinux.

Changelog

The GeckoLinux configuration for the Calamares installer has been updated to not create a Btrfs subvolume for the /tmp directory, as openSUSE Tumbleweed works best with its default configuration of /tmp in RAM. Users with GeckoLinux Rolling installations from the 999.220105 release might want to update their /etc/fstab by adding a # at the beginning of the line that contains /tmp btrfs subvol=/tmp .

An additional improvement has been added to the GeckoLinux custom low-latency PipeWire configuration to make the PulseAudio compatibility system automatically switch input/output streams to USB audio devices when they are connected. Users with GeckoLinux Rolling installations from the 999.220105 release might want to add this config file to /etc/pipewire/ .

Since the previous release, the openSUSE packages for Budgie now use a new utility for displaying desktop icons. This utility is inferior to the GeckoLinux default of using Nemo to control the desktop, which has been configured to continue working in in the 999.220115 release. Previous GeckoLinux Rolling Budgie installations can also have Nemo control the desktop by coping this config file to ~/.config/autostart/ .

The xhost package is now included by default to make Gparted load correctly in the live environment.

Some editions have improved default application associations for some common image formats.
