Famous antivirus software founder John McAfee died while waiting for extradition to the United States
According to local Spanish media reports, John McAfee, the founder of the well-known anti-virus software McAfee, died while in custody in a Spanish prison awaiting extradition in a US court.
The cause of death has not yet been announced, but some media claimed that John McAfee committed suicide by hanging himself, and the reason for McAfee’s detention was that the United States believed that McAfee was evading taxes.
The reason for people’s attention is that John McAfee previously stated on Twitter that: “I am content in here. I have friends. The food is good. All is well. Know that if I hang myself, a la Epstein, it will be no fault of mine.”
John McAfee previously used his own reputation to issue cryptocurrency as the fuse of this incident. The US Department of Justice believes that John McAfee is evading taxes.
This is because John McAfee previously issued a cryptocurrency and promoted it on social media such as Twitter, but the price of this cryptocurrency subsequently returned to zero after the soaring price.
Subsequently, the US Department of Justice accused John McAfee of making a lot of profits through the promotion of cryptocurrency, consulting work, speech activities, etc., but failed to pay taxes as required.
In addition, the Manhattan Federal Court of the United States also accused John McAfee of suspicion of manipulating cryptocurrency prices and using false and misleading tweets to induce investors to make purchases.
However, John McAfee is no longer in the United States, and in response to such criminal charges, John McAfee also stated that he did not hide cryptocurrency and had nothing.
But even so, the US Department of Justice and the Federal Court of Tennessee were still hunting down John McAfee. McAfee was arrested by the local police when he was transiting in Spain.
After being chased by the United States, John McAfee claimed to have been persecuted by American politics, but in the end, McAfee was arrested by Spanish police when he was changing planes in Barcelona.
After the arrest, in accordance with the relevant agreement between Spain and the United States judicial agencies, United States judicial agencies were prepared to extradite John McAfee to a U.S. court for trial. The extradition is still unknown.
Because according to Spanish judicial regulations, extradition needs to be heard by the court, but after more than half a year in custody, the Spanish court supports extradition.
This means that John McAfee will be extradited to the United States and may face 30 years in prison, which is very detrimental to the 75-year-old John McAfee.
Shortly after the Spanish court ruling was issued, John McAfee was certified dead. The specific cause of death is not yet known, but some media reported that he committed suicide by hanging himself in prison.
Considering that McAfee had previously stated that he would not commit suicide, this is now a mystery. Conspiracy theorists believe that McAfee was “suicided” and related to the United States.
At present, the Spanish courts, the prison where John McAfee is detained, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the U.S. Federal Court of Tennessee have not issued any official statements on this matter.
