CDPR announced that the global sales of “The Witcher 3” exceeded 50 million copies
CD Projekt Red (CDPR) has heralded that global sales of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” have shattered the 50 million mark, while the total sales of the entire “The Witcher” series have exceeded a staggering 75 million. Last April, CD Projekt Red reported global sales of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” reaching 40 million. This implies that an additional 10 million copies were sold in the past year, an extraordinary achievement for a game with an eight-year legacy.
These are indeed impressive figures, both for “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” and the entire “The Witcher” series. CD Projekt Red launched the next-gen version of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” on December 14 last year, for Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC platforms, which significantly bolstered the game’s sales.
The PC next-gen version of “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” supports multiple ray-tracing effects, including RTX Global Illumination (RTXGI), introducing more immersive and realistic outdoor ray-tracing effects; ray-traced ambient occlusion, improving shadows around objects blocking light; ray-traced shadows, delivering more realistic and clearer shadows; and ray-traced reflections, enhancing the accuracy and quality of reflections on water bodies and other suitable reflective surfaces.
CD Projekt Red also unveiled plans to disclose information about the latest “Cyberpunk 2077” DLC, “Phantom Liberty,” at the upcoming Summer Games Fest. As the development of this DLC draws to a close, CD Projekt Red will reallocate more developers to the production of the new “The Witcher” series game. At present, the proportion of developers involved in the new “The Witcher” series project, code-named “Polaris,” has surged from 10% to 20%.
