BOE passed iPhone certification and began supplying iPhone 12 OLED

Recently, it is reported that BOE has officially passed Apple’s certification, that is, it will start supplying OLED panels to iPhone 12 OLED products in December 2020. The four 5G phones of the iPhone 12 series are equipped with OLED panels as standard. This series is currently in strong market demand. With BOE entering the iPhone flexible AMOLED supply chain, Apple’s OLED suppliers have been saturated.

Apple is expected to release the largest-ever OLED iPhone to the market in 2021. In 2021, there will be a demand for nearly 160 to 180 million screens, of which Samsung will provide about 130 million and LGD will provide about 40 million and BOE has 10 million orders.

In addition, it is reported that the Chongqing’s Liangjiang district (the B12 line) production line, as BOE’s third flexible OLED factory, will be put into mass production in the second half of next year. By then, BOE’s flexible OLED production capacity will be greatly increased, with a monthly output of 144,000 pieces. The vice president of BOE once stated that the global flexible OLED market is expected to reach US$49.7 billion in 2024, and BOE hopes to account for 40%.
