According to data released by Canalys, Baidu shipped 4.5 million units in the second quarter of 2019, accounting for 17.3% of the global market, up 3700% year-on-year. In comparison, Google’s shipments were 4.3 million units, with a market share of 16.7%. At the same time, Amazon is still the market leader, with 6.6 million shipments in the second quarter and more than 25% market share.

Baidu artificial intelligence speakers use the DuerOS system. The company’s original product was the Raven H speaker, which was designed for young engineers and positioned in the high-end market, but the product is clearly underperforming. Recently, Baidu has introduced a much cheaper model with a basic price as low as $12. Canalys data shows that in the first quarter of this year, Baidu’s shipments exceeded China’s leading domestic company Alibaba in China.
