AYANEO NEXT II handheld will be equipped with discrete graphics card and Ryzen 7000 series mobile processor
AYANEO announced the appearance and some information of AYANEO NEXT II as early as June last year, saying that the handheld would be equipped with an independent graphics card, and proposed two solutions. The independent display and battery of the first solution are modular designs, and the independent display can be removed when going out; the second solution integrates the independent display in the fuselage. Recently, AYANEO revealed more information about AYANEO NEXT II.
AYANE NEXT II is somewhat similar to Steam Deck in button layout, and both are equipped with two touchpads. The handheld has an eight-inch screen and is equipped with a next-generation Ryzen 7000 series mobile processor and a new discrete graphics card.
AMD released the Ryzen 7045 and 7040 series mobile processors at CES 2023, both of which are based on the new-generation Zen 4 architecture. The Ryzen 7045 series processor is essentially a mobile version code-named “Raphael” on the desktop platform. There are four models in total, all of which have RDNA 2 architecture and are equipped with 2 CUs. The Ryzen 7040 series mobile processor integrated graphic is RDNA 3 architecture and can be equipped with up to 12 CUs.
Since AYANEO did not disclose what kind of solution the independent display adopts, it is speculated that if the integrated solution is adopted, the handheld is more likely to be equipped with the Ryzen 7045 series mobile processor. After all, the built-in integrated display does not need to be so strong. If a modular solution is adopted, it is more likely to be equipped with the Ryzen 7040 series mobile processor, because the integrated display performance is still more important when it is inconvenient to insert a separate display outside, but this will further increase the cost of the whole machine. However, it is also possible to use an older architecture Ryzen 7000 series mobile processor.
