AYANEO launches AYANEO 2S handheld
An increasing number of manufacturers are joining the competition in the Windows handheld market. Recently, ASUS’s ROG Ally handheld, featuring the Ryzen Z1 Extreme and Ryzen Z1 processors, has gained significant attention. With the imminent release of the new architecture Ryzen 7000U series processors, the handheld market is poised for a wave of configuration upgrades. AYANEO recently held an online product launch event, unveiling some details about its new handheld, the AYANEO 2S.
The AYANEO 2S will be equipped with the yet-to-be-released Ryzen 7 7840U processor. According to leaked information, the Ryzen 7 7840U shares key parameters with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme, including processor core count, CU unit count, and L3 cache size. Both feature an eight-core, sixteen-thread design, possess 12 CUs, and have 16MB of L3 cache.
In terms of appearance, the AYANEO 2S remains largely unchanged from its predecessor, the AYANEO 2. The front features a 7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1920×1200, a contrast ratio of 1200:1, a pixel density of 323 PPI, a brightness increase to 450 nits, and coverage of 135% of the sRGB color gamut and 96% of the DCI-P3 color gamut.
The AYANEO 2S has also improved its thermal management, adopting a triple copper heat pipe and copper plate design, increasing the heat dissipation area by 33%. The AYANEO 2S has also redesigned its air outlet, enlarging the vent area by 50%. According to official test data, with an ambient temperature of 18°C and a processor TDP of 28W, the AYANEO 2, using the new and old cooling designs, saw FPU temperatures drop from 70°C to 62°C, indicating that the new thermal design is effective. However, official figures for the AYANEO 2S’s FPU temperatures have not been disclosed.
Currently, the base version of the AYANEO 2, with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD, is priced at ¥6,499, and the AYANEO 2S is expected to retail at a higher price point. The AYANEO 2S will be available in three color options: Starry Black, Celestial Mirror White, and Retro Power. The new product is anticipated to be available for pre-order in May and officially shipped in June.
