ASUS launches Z790-AYW WIFI W motherboard
Last year, ASUS introduced a new model line, AYW, under its PRIME series, continuing to expand its presence in the mid-range motherboard market. The first product, PRIME B760M-AYW WIFI D4, can be considered a minor revision of the PRIME B760M-K. Subsequent AYW motherboards have started to feature exclusive ID designs, hinting at the potential to form a separate series (as evidenced by the absence of the PRIME prefix on the B760M-AYW WIFI D5 motherboard box).
Recently, the AYW motherboard has ventured into the higher-end Intel Z790 market, with the new Z790-AYW WIFI W motherboard now available on ASUS’s international website, along with a version compatible with CSM. The motherboard is an ATX form factor, continuing the design style of its predecessors while incorporating a current aesthetic with a pure white PCB. Combined with the motherboard’s built-in silver and white heatsink, it stands out as one of ASUS’s few highly concentrated pure white motherboards in recent years. Given the W suffix, it remains uncertain if a black version will appear.
The Z790-AYW WIFI W adopts a 12+1 phase 60A Dr. MOS CPU power supply scheme, with an 8+4 pin CPU power interface. For reference, the relatively lower-priced PRIME Z790-P WIFI, also featuring the Z790 chipset, has a 14+1 phase 50A Dr. MOS power configuration.
In other aspects, the graphics card slot is limited to PCIe 4.0×16, which has negligible performance impact on current graphics cards. All three M.2 slots come with heatsinks, with two supporting the 22110 specification. The front USB interfaces include one USB 10Gbps Type-C and two sets (four) of USB 5Gbps Type-A, with a reserved Thunderbolt 4 expansion pin. The rear I/O includes a BIOS flashback button and a dedicated USB port, with a USB Type-C interface identical to the front expansion port at 10Gbps. The motherboard features Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3, and comes with a shark-fin antenna. Although it lacks integrated self-check lights, it supports Q-LED, allowing users to diagnose faults based on the power light’s blinking frequency.
Currently, this product is not listed on ASUS’s domestic website, but given the popularity of AYW motherboards in the local market, it is highly likely to be available soon.
