ASRock introduced new W790 motherboard, W790D8UD-1L1N2T/BCM
Intel officially launched the Sapphire Rapids HEDT/workstation processors, which include the Xeon W-3400 series and the Xeon W-2400 series, earlier this year. Numerous manufacturers unveiled corresponding W790 motherboards, albeit primarily in the E-ATX specification. This may not be suitable for users desiring to assemble a relatively compact high-performance workstation or server without the need for extensive expansion.
Recently, ASRock introduced a new W790 motherboard, “W790D8UD-1L1N2T/BCM,” with a “Deep Micro-ATX (264 x 266 mm)” specification, permitting the construction of more compact high-performance workstations or server systems.
The new product supports quad-channel memory and incorporates eight DDR5 memory slots, compatible with EEC error correction, and can support up to 2TB of DDR5-4800. The motherboard also features four full-length PCIe slots, all being PCIe 5.0 x16 slots, along with a PCIe 4.0 x4 M.2 2280 slot, provided by PCH. The motherboard comes equipped with two OCuLink connectors, one supporting PCIe4.0 x4, and the other supporting PCIe4.0 x4 and four SATA 6Gb/s.
The motherboard provides two 10GbE network ports through Broadcom’s BCM57416, along with a 2.5GbE network port furnished by Intel i226, and a 1GbE network port provided by Intel i210. Supported by Aspeed AST2600 BMC, there is a dedicated GbE port for remote management, handled by Realtek RTL8211F. In addition, this motherboard includes an SPI connector for the TPM module, a USB 3.2 Gen1 port, a COM port, and a D-Sub display output.
Since ASRock rarely sells its products through retail channels, the pricing for the W790D8UD-1L1N2T/BCM motherboard remains uncertain, but it should soon hit the market.
