In the past two decades, ASRock has launched many unexpected motherboards, such as P4 Combo, P67 Transformers, 4Core1333-eSATA2, 939A790GMH, M3A UCC, and K8Upgrade-1689. ASRock launched a new motherboard product line last year, called “LiveMixer”, which is specially designed for content creators and provides good support for streaming media and live-streaming auxiliary equipment.
As reported by
VideoCardz, ASRock has brought a custom product called “X670 XPANSION KIT” for the B650 LiveMixer motherboard, which can add an auxiliary chipset to the motherboard.

AMD’s X670 chipset uses two Promontory21 chipsets, while the B650 has only one. ASRock added another Promontory21 chipset through this kit so that the B650 motherboard can be instantly expanded to the similar specifications of the X670 motherboard. The expansion card of “X670 XPANSION KIT” provides two PCIe x4 NVMe M.2 slots, three USB Type-A ports, one USC Type-C port (10Gbps), and one more 2.5G Ethernet port.
It is understood that this particular expansion card will only work with certain ASRock motherboards, due to the fact that it does not just rely on PCIe lane connections, but also requires special control cable connections, and seems to use a custom BIOS. At present, ASRock has no plans to release the “X670 XPANSION KIT”, and it is still in testing. If this product from
ASRock does end up in the market, such a whimsical design may attract some users, giving them the opportunity to upgrade their motherboards at a later date.
