Apple unveils new 15-inch MacBook Air: Equipped with M2, 18 hours of battery life

Apple has heralded the arrival of the elegantly redesigned MacBook Air, complete with a 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display. This cutting-edge device, powered by the M2 chip, boasts an impressive 18-hour battery life, a fanless silent design, and a potent blend of power and portability, all encapsulated within an exquisitely thin casing.

The new 15-inch MacBook Air’s dimensions are 34.04 x 23.76 x 1.15 cm, weighing a mere 1.51kg. It offers a palette of four color options – Midnight, Starlight, Space Gray, and Silver. Equipped with the M2 chip, it features four performance cores and four efficiency cores in the CPU, a 10-core GPU, along with a 16-core Neural Engine, fabricated using the second-generation 5nm process (N5P), delivering a unified memory bandwidth of 100 GB/s. The 15.3-inch Liquid Retina display, supporting a billion colors, boasts a resolution of 2880 x 1864, a brightness of 500 nits, and supports P3 wide color gamut and True Tone technology. It comes with a standard 8GB unified memory, with options for 16GB or 24GB. The storage options range from 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, to 2TB, and it supports Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3.

The device also features a 1080P FaceTime HD camera, a MagSafe charging port, and two Thunderbolt ports for accessory connection, capable of supporting an external display of up to 6K resolution. It also incorporates a 3.5mm headphone jack, compatible with high-impedance headphones. The innovative design includes a new six-speaker system, consisting of two tweeters and four woofers with vibration cancellation, supporting Dolby Atmos spatial audio. Moreover, it has a three-microphone array that supports directional beamforming.

Apple indicates that, in conjunction with the powerful and user-friendly macOS Ventura, the new 15-inch MacBook Air can deliver an unparalleled experience. The 15-inch MacBook Air with M2, available in midnight, starlight, silver, and space gray, starts at $1,299. It will be available for pre-order beginning at 9 am on June 7, and will officially go on sale on June 13.
