Apple closes Apple Store in Italy this weekend due to coronavirus concerns

Affected by the new coronavirus epidemic, Apple this week announced the closure of several Apple Stores in Italy. Apple said it will close a retail store called Apple Oriocenter on March 7 and 8 at the request of the Italian government.

The decree issued by the President of the Council of Ministers last week requires all medium and large retail stores in Bergamo, Lodi, Piacenza, and Cremona, as well as in shopping malls, this Saturday and Sunday to be closed to prevent the spread of the new coronavirus. Similar measures have been adopted in other parts of Italy.

In addition, Apple earlier today sent employees a memo outlining new policies for travel to Italy and South Korea. The company will restrict activities in and out of Italy and South Korea, and employees must get approval from a vice president before departing.
