An 8-core 5.2GHz AMD Zen 4 processor was spotted

AMD has announced a keynote speech at Computex 2022, and there is a high probability that the upcoming Zen 4 architecture Ryzen 7000 series processors will be mentioned. In addition to using a new CPU architecture and a more advanced TSMC 5nm process, the new generation of processors will also include a GPU of the RDNA 2 architecture. Previously, AMD’s desktop processors, except for a few APUs, did not have a GPU. This change is of great significance.

An engineering sample data of AMD Ryzen 7000 processor appeared on OpenBenchmarking‘s test database. Its OPN code is 100-000000666 which is ES for AMD Raphael processor. In fact, there were also processors of the same model that appeared on other test sites in January. This processor has 8 cores and 16 threads, and the highest frequency can reach 5.21GHz. Previously, AMD showed the 16-core Zen 4 with all-core 5GHz at CES 2022, so it is not surprising that the 8-core runs to 5.2GHz.

Of course, this is not the point. This time, the GPU test data of the Raphael processor appeared. Its GPU device ID is GFX1036, which belongs to the same GFX1030 branch as Van Gogh’s GPU, and adopts the RDNA2 architecture, so the sound card in this GPU is identified as Rembrandt Radeon HD Audio. As for performance, it is unclear whether AMD’s drivers are well adapted. At present, the test results are comparable to some older GPUs, far less than the performance of Vega and Xe-LP GPUs, and far from AMD’s latest RDNA2 architecture GPU.

Of course, the purpose of the Raphael processor to provide a GPU is not to let you use it to play games. It mainly provides a display output function and video encoding and decoding function, so that some users who do not need the 3D performance of the graphics card can boot without installing discrete graphics. According to previous news, this GPU may only have 4 sets of CUs, the frequency is about 1100MHz, and the performance may be only about one-third of Van Gogh.

AMD is expected to officially launch the Ryzen 7000 series desktop processors in September this year. The Raphael was first introduced to the market, and then it will be transformed into the Dragon Range as a 55W processor for the mobile platform, which is the same as the current Alder Lake-S transformed into Alder Lake-HX.
