AMD Zen3+/Zen4 architecture exposed

According to the latest news, AMD is expected to launch Zen3+ and Zen4 architectures this year and next, corresponding to the RYZEN 6000 series Warhol and 7000 series Raphael RYZEN processors, respectively.

First, let’s start with a brief introduction. It is reported that Warho is based on the 6nm process and is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of this year. In terms of architecture, it can be called Zen3+ or Zen3 Refresh, and the corresponding RYZEN 6000 series continues the AM4 interface.

According to the information given by RedGamingTech, the RYZEN 6000 series will reach the frequency level of 5GHz, and the IPC is improved by 9-12% compared with Zen 3.

The direct opponent of RYZEN 6000 will be Intel’s twelfth-generation Zen processor Alder Lake, the innovative big.LITTLE hybrid architecture of large and small cores, up to 16 cores, 10nm SuperFin process.

As for Zen4 RYZEN 7000, thanks to 5nm, support for DDR5 memory, prefetching, cache, etc., IPC can improve 40~45% compared with Zen2. Under a simple calculation, the official number of IPC increases of Zen3 compared to Zen2 is 19%, and the IPC increase of Zen4 compared to Zen3 is up to 22%, which is still a number worthy of excitement.
