AMD withdraws from the CES 2022 exhibition
The CES 2022 will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada, the USA on January 5, 2022. The exhibition will be held offline. In fact, the organizer, the Consumer Electronics Association, said that the impact of the epidemic was relatively small, so it decided to re-use the offline method to hold the exhibition and attract consumers to participate offline.
What is surprising is that the coronavirus variant strain Omi Keron is rapidly sweeping the world, especially in the United States, which broke the record of 540,000 new infections in a single day on December 27.
Under this circumstance, it is not a wise choice to continue to participate in offline exhibitions. Therefore, more than a dozen technology companies and hardware manufacturers have announced their withdrawal from the exhibition.
AMD officially released the latest statement (via Tom’s Hardware)
“After careful deliberation, AMD has decided to cancel our in-person presence at CES 2022 in Las Vegas and will instead transition to a virtual experience. While the AMD 2022 Product Premiere was always planned as a digital-only livestream, our in-person engagements will now transition to virtual in the best interest of the health and safety of our employees, partners and communities. We look forward to sharing all our exciting news as scheduled on January 4th.”
Microsoft stated that the health and well-being of employees are our top priority. After reviewing data on the rapidly evolving pandemic, we decided not to participate in the exhibition in person.
Other companies such as Meta, GM, Google, Lenovo, Intel, Twitter, Amazon, TikTok, OnePlus, MSI, etc. have also decided to withdraw from offline activities.
However, there are indeed some leading companies that have decided to participate in the exhibition as originally planned, including LG, Samsung, BMW, Qualcomm, and Sony who will participate in offline events.
