Google, GM withdraw from the CES 2022 exhibition

Many people should know that CES 2022 will hold a physical exhibition in Las Vegas in mid-January and re-organize the exhibition across the line after 2 years. Before this, many big brands have made it clear that they will participate in CES 2022 and will release speeches on the spot, such as well-known brands such as Intel, AMD, and NVIDIA. However, with the aggravation of the epidemic situation, more and more well-known brands are not participating in the exhibition of CES 2022. The latest ones are Google and GM.

A Google spokesperson told Techradar:
Unfortunately, after careful consideration we have decided to withhold from having an in-person presence at CES 2022. We’ve been closely monitoring the development of the Omicron variant, and have decided that this is the best choice for the health and safety of our teams.

CES is an important technology platform, and we are continuing with our plans on Jan. 5 to share our significant company news including the reveal of the Chevrolet Silverado EV,” GM said in a statement late Thursday.

In fact, large companies have already withdrawn from the physical exhibition of CES 2022 before:

  • Google
  • GM
  • Intel
  • Waymo
  • Meta
  • Amazon
  • Twitter
  • T-Mobile
  • Nvidia
  • Pinterest
  • iHeartRadio

Therefore, it is still unknown how many manufacturers will appear on the scene of CES 2022. We can only hope that even if manufacturers do not conduct physical exhibitions, they will deliver keynote speeches online, just like last year’s CES 2021.
