AMD and TSMC outline 7nm process products to be listed next year
AMD announced a partnership with TSMC in San Francisco, USA, to officially launch 7nm-based hardware products using the ZEN 2 architecture.
AMD official press release summary:
The company said the new 7-nanometer process is more intensive, and the hardware power consumption is reduced by about 50% compared to previous versions with the same performance.
In the case of the same power consumption, the new version has a 1.25 times better performance than the old version, and AMD has made several optimizations and improvements for the ZEN 2 architecture.
For example, the ZEN 2 architecture can provide better branch prediction and enhanced instruction prefetching, doubling load and storage bandwidth, better performance caches, and more.
Compared with the previous products, the new products are modularized with a small chip design, which can effectively reduce delays, improve performance, and improve safety.
AMD said that the 7nm process series hardware products would be fully launched in 2019, and AMD will share more about 7nm process news.
MI50/MI60 card for the 7nm process:
In addition to a lot of news about the 7nm process, AMD also shared AMD Instinct GPU MI50 and MI60 products based on this process node.
This is a professional computing card for high-performance devices, such as deep learning and artificial intelligence, and is a benchmark for the Tesla series of professional computing cards.
