Plasma 5.15 will add many new features

After revealing many new features and improvements in the KDE Plasma 5.15 desktop environment (released in early December), KDE development member Nate Graham today announced the “Usability & Productivity,” revealing more improvements to KDE Plasma 5.15.

In this weekly report on the KDE Plasma 5.15 desktop environment, the newly designed Plasma Discover update page makes it easier for users to check and uncheck all available updates, or to customize the content they want to update based on their preferences and needs. The special mention of this feature in the weekly newspaper is inseparable from the efforts of Aleix Pol Gonzalez.

Also, the KDE Plasma 5.15 desktop environment still allows NumLock to be enabled during the Wayland startup process. The content view, tab bar, etc. are separated by lines, which significantly improves the readability of the Kickoff application menu and fixes many inconsistencies in the Breeze theme.

Also mentioned in the weekly report is the category name of the KWin global shortcut in the system settings so that it is no longer randomly changed; the bottom button, setting description and icon position in the system settings page is improved, and the various folder views will be set. The page is re-layout. The KDE Plasma 5.15 desktop environment will be compatible with the Qt 5.11 and Qt 5.12 software frameworks and will be consistent with the KDE Frameworks 5.54 software suite that will be released on January 12, 2019.

The final version of the KDE Plasma 5.15 desktop environment is expected to be available as early as February 12, 2019, and the beta version is expected to be released on January 17 next year. Before this, we recommend that you upgrade your Plasma desktop to KDE Plasma 5.14.3, which will be released tomorrow afternoon.
