AMD releases Ryzen 7 5800X3D desktop processor
In terms of desktop processors, only one Ryzen 7 5800X3D was released by AMD at CES 2022. Look at the name, you know that it is Ryzen 7 5800 with 3D V-Cache. The CCD of the existing Zen 3 architecture Ryzen 5000 processor is packed with a 64MB 7nm SRAM, which is directly stacked on the CCD chip. In this way, the L3 cache capacity of each CCD can be increased from 32MB to 96MB, which is three times the original capacity.
The biggest beneficiary of the increase in the L3 cache is the game. The overall game performance of the Ryzen 7 5800X 3D at 1080p resolution is 15% faster than Ryzen 9 5900X with more cores. Different games will have different performances. This Ryzen 7 5800X3D can be directly used on existing AMD 400/500 series motherboards. It is expected to be released this spring.
As for Zen 4, AMD said it will be named the Ryzen 7000 series, using TSMC’s 5nm process, and the full-core frequency can reach 5GHz, will debut in the second half of 2022, will switch to Socket AM5 platform, LGA1718 interface, CPU packaging, and installation methods are significantly changed from now, and will support PCI-E 5.0 and DDR5 memory and other new technologies.
