AMD releases Ryzen PRO 8000 series product portfolio
AMD has announced the launch of its Ryzen PRO 8000 series portfolio, which includes the Ryzen PRO 8040 series mobile processors for commercial notebooks and mobile workstations, as well as the Ryzen PRO 8000 series desktop processors. AMD claims that these products, tailored for the commercial market, position it as the first x86 company to integrate an Artificial Intelligence (AI) accelerated Neural Processing Unit (NPU) into both mobile and desktop platforms, introducing AI-capable processors that deliver cutting-edge performance at low power consumption.
“AMD delivers the broadest portfolio of AI technologies to address the needs of the modern business. As we continue to expand our AI PC leadership, we are bringing more power and efficiency to a wide array of desktops and mobile PCs,” said Jack Huynh, senior vice president and general manager, Computing and Graphics Group at AMD. “Our latest PRO series processors set a new standard for premium computing experiences and help businesses deploy AI capabilities across their PCs with leadership performance and security.”
Derived from existing consumer products, the main technical specifications remain the same, including CPUs based on the Zen 4 architecture, GPUs with RDNA 3 architecture, and NPUs featuring XDNA architecture. These incorporate Ryzen AI technology and are manufactured using a 4nm process. As AMD’s enterprise processor brand, Ryzen PRO naturally supports AMD PRO technologies, such as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, in addition to enterprise-level manageability and various security features, providing unparalleled stability, reliability, and platform longevity for enterprise users.
The Ryzen PRO 8040 series mobile processors are expected to be available from OEM partners such as HP and Lenovo starting in the second quarter of 2024, while the Ryzen PRO 8000 series desktop processors are anticipated to begin distribution through OEM partners HP and Lenovo, as well as select channel partners, in the second quarter of 2024.
