AMD confirms that Navi 23 is equipped with 64 ROPs
Although AMD has released a number of products based on the Navi 23 core, consumers have yet to see related products. AMD launches Radeon RX 6600M, there is still no official support in the new driver. As for the promise made at the beginning of the year to launch more Radeon RX 6000 series desktop GPUs in the first half of the year, it seems that the Radeon RX 6600 series can’t keep up.
When AMD released the Radeon PRO W6600, it provided information about the number and size of the transistors of the Navi 23 core, but AMD did not disclose all the specifications. As the GPU used by Tesla in the new in-vehicle infotainment system, plus the mobile platform and possible desktop platform, in the next few months, Navi 23 core is likely to be the most popular RDNA 2 architecture GPU, of course, this does not include the RDNA 2 architecture chips used by Xbox Series S/X and PlayStation 5.
It is understood that the Navi 23 core should have 32 computing units, but the products released so far have not used the full version of the core, and only 28 at most. Regardless of Radeon PRO W6600 (M) or Radeon RX 6600M, the number of stream processors is 1792. Another specification was confirmed recently. On the TechPowerup forum, the editor-in-chief said that he contacted AMD and confirmed that the Navi 23 core has 64 ROPs, which is the same as the Navi 22 core.
Many users are eagerly waiting for the Radeon RX 6600/RX 6600 XT graphics cards to be launched on the desktop platform. Compared with other Radeon RX 6000 series products launched before, the graphics cards equipped with Navi 23 core are more in line with the needs of mainstream users.
