AMD announced the acquisition of FPGA company Xilinx for $35 billion

AMD officially announced the acquisition of its competitor Xilinx for US$35 billion. Xilinx is a well-known field programmable logic gate array manufacturing company in the industry.

Through this acquisition, AMD will provide the industry’s most powerful high-performance processor technology portfolio, providing a leading computing platform for the terminal, cloud, and edge computing.

The transaction is mainly completed through stocks. After the merger, AMD shareholders hold approximately 74% of the shares and Xilinx shareholders hold approximately 26%.

Conventionally, this type of transaction requires the approval of major global market regulators, and the transaction will be finalized only after the approval of major market regulators.
