Alphabet Announces First Quarter 2022 Results

Alphabet earlier announced results for the first quarter of fiscal 2022, which generated $68.01 billion in revenue, a 23% increase from the same period last year. Net profit reached $16.44 billion, down 8.9% from the same period last year, while revenue from Google Cloud and YouTube businesses both increased significantly.

Among them, Google Cloud’s business revenue reached $5.821 billion, an increase of about 44% compared with last year, and YouYube’s revenue reached $6.87 billion, an increase of 14% compared with the same period last year. Although it is slightly lower than market expectations, it is still one of Google’s revenue sources. It shows that YouTube has recently tried new advertising models, cooperated with more content creators, and provided more creative revenue mechanisms, making YouTube a continuous source of profit for Google.In terms of other services, revenue including Google Search and advertising was $61.47 billion, an increase of 20% compared to last year, and revenue from other investment new projects reached $440 million, an increase of 122% compared to last year.

However, on the whole, Google Cloud and investment in new projects are still at a loss. Among them, Google Cloud lost $931 million, but it was slightly lower than the loss of $974 million last year, and the loss of investment projects was $1.155 billion, which was slightly higher than the loss of $1.145 billion last year.

As for Alphabet’s largest revenue area, the US market is still the largest accounting for about $31.733 billion, followed by Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, which accounted for a total of about $20.317 billion, the Asia-Pacific region revenue was $11.841 billion.
