Cloud services such as Azure are still the main source of Microsoft’s revenue

Microsoft earlier announced the content of its Fiscal Year 2022 Third Quarter, in which revenue reached $49.36 billion, an increase of 18% compared to the same period last year. The revenue of the Intelligent Cloud segment including Azure reached $19.05 billion, a year-on-year increase of 26%. At the same time, the revenue of cloud businesses such as Azure increased by 46%.

Revenue from the Productivity and Business Processes segment, which includes services such as Office, Dynamics, and LinkedIn, reached $15.79 billion, an increase of 17% over the same period last year. This is still due to the increasing demand for remote work and flexible office use by many companies, and Microsoft has also recently increased the subscription price of some Office 365 services.

As for the personal computing division, which includes Windows, Surface, and Xbox, revenue reached $14.52 billion, an increase of 11% over the same period last year. Among them, the profit through licensing of the Windows operating system increased by 11%. At the same time, Microsoft also stated that the number of subscription users of the streaming game service Xbox Cloud Gaming has exceeded 10 million, the number of Xbox Game Pass subscription services has also increased to 25 million, and revenue from Xbox hardware sales also increased by 14%.

In addition, Microsoft also stated that it announced at the beginning of this year that it would buy Activision Blizzard with $68.7 billion in revenue, becoming Microsoft’s largest acquisition in 47 years. The transaction is expected to be successfully completed in 2023.
