A list of Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series processors has been spotted
Earlier, a senior executive of ASUS Computer’s China division divulged that AMD plans to launch its next-generation Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series processors, codenamed “Storm Peak,” along with the corresponding TR5 platform in the latter half of 2023. These will introduce PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 memory.
Recently, Twitter user @momomo_us claimed that the latest CPU-Z 2.06 version, thanks to its updates, offers preliminary support for the Storm Peak platform, discovering the yet-to-be-released Ryzen Threadripper 7000 series processors. Diverging from the previous generation, the new lineup appears to revert to an earlier product layout strategy. Namely, the Threadripper Pro 79x5WX series caters to the workstation market, while the Threadripper 79x0X series is designed for the High-End Desktop (HEDT) market.
The Threadripper Pro 79x5WX series employs the SP5 socket, supporting 8-channel DDR5 memory, in addition to 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes and 8 PCIe 3.0 lanes. However, it lacks processor and memory overclocking capabilities. On the other hand, the Threadripper 79x0X series will provide comprehensive processor and memory overclocking features, possibly utilizing the SP6 socket, supporting 4-channel DDR5 memory, and offering 64 PCIe 5.0 lanes.
