2GB Raspberry Pi 4 now only $35

To celebrate the upcoming 8th birthday of the Raspberry Pi, its founder, Eben Upton announced on the blog that the price of the 2GB RAM version of the Raspberry Pi 4 is reduced to $35.

Prices for the 1GB and 4GB RAM versions remain unchanged. However, according to Eben, in keeping with its commitment to long-term support, the entry-level version of 1GB RAM is only available for industrial and commercial customers. He also said that the Raspberry Pi 4 with 1GB RAM has no price advantage compared to the 2GB RAM version, so he hopes that most users will choose a larger memory version.

Although Eben apparently said that the sale was a birthday gift for everyone, he said in his blog that the declining memory price last year was the main factor. Eben also pointed out that the current price of the Raspberry Pi 4 is the same as when the first generation of the Raspberry Pi was released eight years ago. If you consider inflation, $35 in 2012 is almost equivalent to $40 today. So, the Raspberry Pi 4 is also $5 cheaper than the first generation.

The 4GB variant of Raspberry Pi 4 will remain on sale, priced at $55.
