Windows Terminal will become the command line app for Windows 11 next year
Windows Terminal is an open-source terminal management application launched by Microsoft. At present, the application has been directly built into Windows 11 as a system application.
For example, when we right-click the start menu, the Terminal instead of PowerShell or CMD appears. The Terminal application provides users with richer functions.
However, the current Terminal application is not the default terminal program of the Windows 11 system, that is, the command prompt is called by default when running the command line content.
This situation is about to change, next year, the Terminal will become the default application of Windows 11, which will be used when users run PS/CMD scripts.
If you use the Windows 11 development version, you can go to the developer options of the settings, where you will find that the terminal application has become the default terminal program.
Of course, users can also choose by themselves. For example, they can switch to the console host and use the command prompt. This option is the default, so no user operation is required.
Microsoft said that based on user experience considerations, the company will push updates to all users early next year and set Windows Terminal as the default terminal.
This change may affect developers, so Microsoft urges users to submit feedback through Github so that the development team can solve new problems in a timely manner.
