Windows 10 chkdsk feature tool will trigger a blue screen of death
A new problem was discovered in the routine cumulative update KB4592438 released by Microsoft this month. This update has been found to cause the CPU to always be 100%.
The problem found this time is mainly related to the solid-state drive. When the user uses the chkdsk tool to scan, it will trigger the blue screen of death.
At present, some users have reported this problem and have been confirmed by other users, but it seems that not all users may encounter this problem after testing.
The system’s built-in disk scanning and repairing tool is ChkDsk. We can call this tool through the command line to scan and repair different hard disks and partitions.
After installing the latest cumulative update, if you use ChkDsk’s scan and repair commands immediately, it may trigger a blue screen of death and display an error code. The error code of the blue screen of death is NTFS FILE SYSTEM.
Therefore, users are advised not to scan and repair the disk until Microsoft does not respond or solve the problem, so as to avoid the blue screen of death affecting your normal work.
After testing, foreign media found that it is possible to use the tool to repair during the pre-boot phase, and some errors in the disk can indeed be detected after scanning.
Therefore, if you really need to use this tool, it is also recommended to call the command prompt during the pre-boot phase to avoid scanning after entering the system.
Of course, you can also uninstall the cumulative update that is faulty. Note that Microsoft may not release an update until early next year to completely fix the problem.
