Windows 10/11 this month’s routine update causes errors in the MSI installer
At present, Microsoft has marked two known issues in the Windows 11 health dashboard, one is the blue screen of death in the Intel Smart Sound Technology drivers.
The latest addition is a problem caused by the routine cumulative update in November 2021. Specifically, the routine cumulative update for Windows 11 is KB5007215.
According to Microsoft, the new problem discovered this time affects Windows 10 and Windows 11. In fact, all the above versions are affected since Windows 7 SP1.
After installing KB5007215 or later, the Microsoft Installer (MSI) installer may have problems repairing or updating the software.
The currently known affected programs include Kaspersky Security Lab. When an update or repair is attempted, the affected software may fail to open.
The current temporary solution is to uninstall the affected software and then download the latest version of the software installation package to reinstall.
Microsoft is working on a solution and will provide updates in the upcoming version. It is expected that at the end of the month, Microsoft will launch optional updates containing fixes for testing.
