Why does Windows 10 have many bugs?
Microsoft’s recently released Windows 10 October 2018 Update has experienced a severe file loss problem. Since ordinary users usually do not back up files, this problem will undoubtedly cause considerable losses to users. Why didn’t Microsoft find this severe bug in the testing phase? Peter Bright of Arstechnica observed that the root of the problem lies in the software giant’s development process
After the release of Windows 10, Microsoft turned to the software-as-a-service model, releasing a new version every six months, and pushing new features to users by increasing the frequency of updates.
In the past, Microsoft’s product release cycle was two to three years, and its development process was divided into multiple phases: design and planning, feature development, integration, and stability. It takes 4-6 months to plan the layout, 6-8 weeks to develop the program, and four months to integrate and test and bug fixes. This cycle will be repeated two or three times during the product development cycle.
For Windows, it will go through three iterations: prototype and two actual product developments. But the development process of Windows 10 has undergone a fundamental change, and this phase of testing has been almost skipped.
Peter Bright According to internal sources, Microsoft now allows code to be integrated without testing, and developers allow code that is not working correctly to be incorporated into the product. The result of this is that after the product is released, serious bugs will be discovered so that Microsoft needs to pause the push. Microsoft’s product quality has fallen sharply
