Vuzix unveils their latest augmented reality (AR) glasses Vuzix Ultralite S
Recently, Vuzix announced their latest augmented reality (AR) glasses, named Vuzix Ultralite S. These AR glasses are an expansion of the Vuzix Ultralite OEM platform, specifically crafted for sports and fitness enthusiasts. According to the press release, the Vuzix Ultralite S glasses have been honored with the CES 2024 Innovation Award in the wearable technology and fitness category.
Vuzix states that the design of the Vuzix Ultralite S strikes a balance between style and lightweight construction. Although tailored for sports and fitness activities, its aesthetic appeal is likely to attract a broader consumer base. Like most contemporary smart glasses, the Vuzix Ultralite S relies on a smartphone connection. The delivery of information is primarily through advanced waveguide lenses and micro-LED screens, capable of displaying navigation directions, chat messages, health and fitness data, and various other pieces of information.
Additionally, the Vuzix Ultralite S incorporates the Vuzix Incognito technology, designed to eliminate the forward light leakage common in other waveguide solutions, thereby effectively safeguarding user privacy. Put simply, while typical waveguide glasses display information that can be seen by others besides the wearer, the Vuzix Incognito technology eliminates this leakage, making it appear to others that the user is wearing ordinary glasses.
“The Ultralite S is but one example of the attractive and functional configurations possible with our Ultralite OEM Platform,” said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer at Vuzix. “We will continue to expand the design and performance of smart glasses products based on this platform as we continue to work with potential end customers on a white label basis.“
