US government set up an antitrust investigation, Google forced to hand over more than 100,000 documents

Earlier, it was reported that US federal government agencies and local government agencies may form alliances to initiate antitrust investigations and lawsuits against technology giants such as Google.

According to the latest report published by the Wall Street Journal, the United States Department of Justice and the United States Attorney General Union are likely to initiate formal antitrust lawsuits in the coming months.

Usually, the US federal government departments and local government departments rarely collaborate, but this time for the huge Google, the federal government cooperates with local governments.

At present, the antitrust investigation against Google is still underway. US Attorney General William Barr expressed the hope that a final decision will be made sometime this summer.

The ongoing investigation is also the largest regulatory action by the US government against Google, and the results of the investigation will determine whether Google will be prosecuted.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton confirmed the overall timetable to the Wall Street Journal, but Ken Paxton also said he did not promise whether charges would be filed.

As part of the antitrust investigation, Google and its affiliates have submitted more than 100,000 documents related to Google’s business in accordance with regulatory requirements.

The focus of the survey is the most important part of Google ’s revenue, which is the online advertising business, but this survey seems to only target the advertising business of the Google search platform.

The antitrust investigation against Google mainly involves not only market monopoly issues, but also US regulators are concerned about Google ’s personal privacy information.

Paxton said that Google controls almost at least 7,000 data points per person and that Google also controls buyers, sellers, and the general market in the online advertising business market.

Google said the company will continue to cooperate with the regulatory authorities to investigate but Google does not comment.

Of course, if Google loses the antitrust lawsuit, Google’s advertising business may face tremendous pressure, and may even threaten Google’s survival.
