Microsoft will adopt a more streamlined update strategy in the new version of Windows 10

The cumulative update of each month’s routine should be excellent for most users, but for enterprise users every time they need to be evaluated. For example, the previous TSMC ransomware infection incident was because it was not updated in time. TSMC said that it had not completed the evaluation test of the Eternal Blue patch.

At the same time, it is a headache for enterprises to deploy a large number of devices each time they need to implement updates, so Microsoft is ready to continue to streamline the cumulative update package.

Windows 10 Build 17738

Publish an update package in CAB format for redistribution:

The new strategy that Microsoft plans to introduce is to allow the update package to be redistributed on the intranet while continuing to streamline the installation package for fast download and deployment.

The new update package only pushes through system updates and does not provide additional downloads, and the enterprise can detect which incremental updates are directly through the deployment management system.

Devices that are automatically evaluated for incremental updates will automatically download the installation package and then distribute it to all devices on the internal network without having to repeat the download.

Microsoft said that about 40% could increase the overall efficiency of device updates after the new update strategy is enabled. For enterprises, the new approach is naturally more convenient.

Introduced in the Version 1809:

This new update strategy will be available in Windows 10 Version 1809, which is expected for regular users to download in October.

For enterprise users, if it is a half-year branch, it will be updated next spring, when enterprise administrators can use the new strategy to deploy updates in batches.

At the same time, the previous cumulative update full version and the quick update will be retained, and the Delta incremental update will be discontinued entirely at the beginning of the next release.
