Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS will be released with new Linux kernel & hardware enablement stack
Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS will be released as the second version of the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) operating system family and the first to upgrade the kernel and graphics stack. Therefore, Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS comes with the Ubuntu 18.10 kernel and graphics stack.
Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS also introduces an up-to-date installation media for users who want to deploy Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on new computers without having to download hundreds of updates after installation. Existing Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS users simply need to select an update to use Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS.
Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS was originally scheduled for release on February 7 but was delayed due to a system startup error. The reason for the delay seems to be a critical boot error for the Linux 4.18 kernel.
