TSMC is expected to produce Atom and Xeon processors for Intel

After Intel CEO Bob Swan revealed in the second quarter earnings analyst conference call that he considered to outsource from other manufacturers, the media expected TSMC to become Intel’s chip OEMs.

The latest reports from the media show that TSMC is also expected to produce some Atom and Xeon processors for Intel. The media quoted news from sources who reported that TSMC will manufacture Atom and Xeon processors for Intel, but did not mention the number of foundries and the processes that will be used.

In a job posting on Intel’s official website, the source discovered that TSMC is expected to manufacture these two processors for Intel. The job description stated that the recruited employees will develop and integrate QAT into Intel and TSMC processes. The Atom and Xeon processors play an important role.

As a member of the QAT design team, you will work as the RTL integration lead within the Custom Logic ASIC Engineering group in DCG [Data Center Group],” the job description at Intel’s website (found by @Komachi_Ensaka) reads. “You will play a key role in the development and integration of QAT into Atom & Xeon based SoC on Intel and TSMC process, you will work with the IP/SoC integration team and collaborate with the SoC design, validation and emulation teams to ensure successful integration validation of the QAT IP.
