Toshiba completely withdrew from the PC market
Recently, Toshiba sold the remaining shares (19.9%) of its Dynabook brand to Sharp again. It had previously sold 80.1% of its shares to Sharp. So far, Toshiba has sold all of its shares. The sale to Sharp marked that this old Japanese PC manufacturer officially withdrew from the PC market, ending their 35-year history of struggle in this market.
Toshiba produced the world’s first notebook computer T1100 in 1985, which developed a general template for later notebook computer design. This template has not changed much before Apple launched the PowerBook series of computers in 1991.
Although Toshiba withdrew from the PC market, like Nokia, it will not decline due to this, and may again move towards new brilliance in other areas. At present, Toshiba still has outstanding performance in the office field (printers, storage), and also has a layout in the energy and retail fields. The sold Dynabook brand will continue to shine in the hands of the new owner.
