The power consumption of RTX 4060 Ti is only 160W

It has been reported before that Nvidia is preparing two GPUs, AD104-250 and AD104-251. Some people speculate that the former corresponds to RTX 4070 and the latter is RTX 4060. It was later reported that both GPUs correspond to the RTX 4070, which requires fewer components and is rumored to enter mass production a few weeks later.

Recently, Twitter user @kopite7kimi revealed that GeForce RTX 4060 Ti will be the first desktop graphics card using AD106, with 4352 CUDA cores, equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, and the memory interface width is 128 bits. Nvidia has also recently updated the specifications of the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti. The power consumption of the entire card has been changed from 220W to 160W, which greatly reduces power consumption and is also lower than the 200W of the RTX 3060 Ti.

Considering that the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti has fewer CUDA cores than the RTX 3060 Ti, the memory bandwidth is halved, and the memory bandwidth is reduced from 608 GB/s or 448 GB/s to 288 GB/s. It is not yet clear how much the impact on performance will be, and the performance gap between the two is also difficult to determine for the time being. Nvidia may choose to launch GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 Ti at the end of the first quarter or early second quarter of 2023, bringing the Ada Lovelace architecture graphics card closer to the mainstream market.

Although it is not known when the AD106 will land on the desktop platform, this GPU will be seen on the mobile platform soon. NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 series mobile graphics cards will be released on February 8, including the RTX 4070 mobile version. It is rumored that it uses the GN21-X6 GPU, which is AD106. Nvidia may have to wait a while to further reduce its existing inventory before launching alternative products.
