The number of online users of Steam has hit new highs one after another

After entering 2022, the development of Valve’s Steam platform seems to have become more rapid. In less than a month, the Steam platform has continuously broken the record of the number of online users. On January 9 this year, the number of simultaneous online users on the Steam platform exceeded the 28 million mark, breaking the record of 27 million in November last year. Only half a month later, this achievement was broken again, and SteamDB showed that the number of simultaneous online users had exceeded 29 million, reaching 29.2 million. It is only one step away from the 30 million level, and according to the current trend, it is only a matter of time before the breakthrough.

The main driving force behind the recent growth in the number of online users on the Steam platform comes from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2, with more and more players participating. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has 900,000 concurrent players, while Dota 2 has 787,000 concurrent players. Another motivation comes from “PUBG”, which has attracted more fans after being transformed into F2P mode, with more than 600,000 players online at the same time. Under normal circumstances, the number of online users will reach a peak during the holidays, and then gradually decrease, and eventually, there will be a more obvious decline. However, this time after the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays spanning from 2021 to 2022, a similar situation did not occur.
