The 10mm Mastermind: Radxa X2L Redefines Mini PCs with Big Performance
According to CNX Software, the Radxa X2L is a remarkably slim and affordable single-board computer, measuring a mere 155 x 80 x 10mm, akin to a smartphone in size. It is powered by the 14nm Intel Celeron J4125 processor, featuring 4 cores and 4 threads with a modest TDP of only 10W, making passive cooling effortlessly viable. Additionally, it is equipped with a 40-pin GPIO interface, controlled by the Raspberry Pi RP2040 chip.
The Radxa X2L employs onboard memory, offering options of 2/4/8GB LPDDR4-2400. For storage, it features a PCIe 2.0 x4 M.2 2280 interface on the back and an optional 32GB eMMC flash memory. The front-facing M.2 interface is designed for wireless network card installation.
In terms of I/O interfaces, the Radxa X2L is quite comprehensive, boasting two USB 3.0 Type-A and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, dual HDMI ports supporting up to 4K@30Hz output, an RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It is powered via USB Type-C and supports PD.
Developers have indicated that the Radxa X2L supports Windows 10 Pro, Debian, and Ubuntu. As an x86 single-board computer, it’s expected to be compatible with an even broader range of systems. The developers told CNX Software that they are working on a Roobi firmware built into the eMMC flash memory, allowing users to install operating systems directly from the cloud.
In terms of pricing, the Radxa X2L starts at $39, which is quite economical, especially considering that standard AAA games typically cost around $70. The base model comes with 2GB of memory and no additional accessories. For an additional $6, users can purchase a compatible heatsink. The version with 32GB of flash memory and 8GB of memory is priced at $79.
