Tesla Model S Plaid car uses AMD Navi 23 core processor

Electric car manufacturer Tesla held a delivery ceremony for its new electric car at its California plant and officially released Model S Plaid. In this event, Elon Musk also fulfilled his previous promise. It’s the new infotainment system that can play “Cyberpunk 2077”, but it’s not clear what resolution and image quality settings are used to run it. In addition to the live demonstration, Elon Musk said that the performance of this new in-vehicle system is equivalent to the PlayStation 5 game console, which aroused the interest of many people.

According to VideoCardz, the GPU used by Model S Plaid should be the latest member of the RDNA 2 architecture, the Navi 23 core. The complete core can have 2048 stream processors, the video memory bit size is 128 bits, the video memory is 8GB GDDR6, and the 32MB Infinity Cache is configured. It is not clear yet the specific specifications of Tesla’s chip selection, it may be the core of the simplified Radeon Pro W6600. It is said that its floating-point performance is 10 TFLOPS, which is similar to the 10.28 TFLOPS of the PlayStation 5 game console.

It is not yet possible to confirm the processor status of the infotainment system. It is possible that semi-custom products like XBOX Series X/S and PlayStation 5 use a combination of Zen 2 architecture CPU and RDNA 2 architecture GPU.
