TerraMaster launches 2 cheaper NAS with better performance
NAS is network-attached storage. At present, the main brands of network-attached storage in the market include Synology, QNAP, TerraMaster, Western Digital, and Seagate. Among them, Synology is the most famous and has the highest market share, but Synology’s network-attached storage price is relatively high but the hardware configuration is relatively common. If you do not choose Synology, QNAP then TerraMaster can also be considered, such as TerraMaster F2-423 and F4-423 newly launched.
TerraMaster F2-423 adopts Intel Celeron N5105/5095 quad-core processor, with a base clock of 2.0GHz, a boost clock of 2.9GHz, and 4GB of memory by default. With 2 2.5GbE network ports and 2 M.2 NVMe SSD slots, if the user has enough budget, it can form a NAS with good performance. The hardware configuration of F4-423 and F2-423 is basically similar, but F4-423 provides 4 disks, and F2-423 has 2 disks to meet the storage needs of different users.
If the comparison is purely based on hardware, the price of TerraMaster is much more cost-effective than that of Synology. However, Synology’s software system is easier to use, so Synology has more users. In terms of pricing, the 2-bay F2-423 is priced at $380, and the 4-bay F4-423 is priced at $500. Both are positioned as network-attached storage for small businesses.
